A FEW COMMENTS FROM HERE AND THERE

  • " We very much enjoyed the music and song of My Pennyworth - they are not easily catorgorised and that is what makes them so good. Every song has a different style and nobody could get bored by their material and also their great enthusiasm. Paul is a fine guitarist and Penny plays almost everything else: its a great partnership and we wish them all the best for the future. "

  • " Lighthearted and easy listening. My Pennyworth blend a wide range of instruments, lyrics and melodies into thoughtful arrangements of their own compositions. We were treated to a delightful evening of music with the odd surprise thrown in to much delight!"

  • " Thank you so much for the fantastic evening from My Pennyworth last night. I so enjoyed Penny's multi-instrumental skills, especially the bodhran, and the electronic bagpipes were amazing! (And then we were floored by the real bagpipes suddenly appearing from off-stage for one of the final items.) The quick changes from accordian to flute, bodhran or penny whistle really kept up the audience interest. Amazing guitar work by Paul, great songs from you both and interesting anecdotes about your travels. "

  • " Hi Paul and Penny, Hope all well with you both and you had a safe trip back. Just to let you know your performance at Dunfermline Folk Club this month was well received by our members. Playing a mix of your own songs and a wide range of covers with Penny playing a variety of instruments was very much appreciated. As I was the MC for the evening, I really liked your interaction with the audience and with plenty of shouts for an encore at the end it summed up how much everybody enjoyed themselves. Please let us know when MY PENNYWORTH are back in the UK and if dates are suitable we would love to have you back at Dunfermline Folk Club. Best Wishes!"

  • " On the 25th July the Unicorn Folk Club welcomed My Pennyworth from New Zealand who were our last guests booked before the summer break. The audience really appreciated the variety of self-penned songs, the blend of contemporary and traditional material and they loved joining in the choruses. It was amazing to hear all Penny ’s different instruments. We wish them well for the rest of their tour. "

  • " Paul and Penny ( My Pennyworth ) were invited to play The Chase Folk Club and they provided us with an evening of fine music. Paul’s songwriting and guitar playing was accompanied by Penny’s varied instrumental dexterity, from whistle, bohdran, and accordion playing. Our member’s were asking for more, but sadly we had run out of time, so we shall have to wait till the next time they tour the UK. (can’t wait. ). "

  • " I would like to comment on the concerts that Paul and Penny performed while here in Ireland. In particular Paul and Penny held a concert at the Ballyeamon Barn function room. This was a great night that drew in a full house. The audience loved their music. They played a mixture of covers and their own music. The audience were totally blown away by their own stuff, the lyrics and harmony and skills displayed between these two musicians was second to none. There is an audience waiting for their return - the performance that they provided was unforgettable. They played and sang of stories of a folk and mythical nature that is close to the hearts of many people here in Ireland. The evocative lyrics and celtic style warmed every one in attendance, they utilized many instruments in a professional manner and sold many CDs following the gig. Following this night in the Barn Studio they played in the local hotel where people danced the night away. I would highly recommend Paul and Penny as top class entertainers that can enliven an audience and bring any venue to life."

"A Couple years ago, I heard my Pennyworth going over some tunes on the Friday afternoon before the open mic at the annual Oparau Acoustic Festival and was pleased that they had signed up to perform a couple of numbers that evening. Their evening performance was fabulous with Stunning harmony singing, Paul on guitar and Penny playing piano accordion on the first number and the freshly tuned acoustic piano on the other. Being the Host of this festival , I decided to add another act to the Saturday night main event and asked them if they would perform a 30 minute slot. They rose well above the occasion and performed a compelling set of original and traditional material with Penny bringing down the house with a bagpipe feature grand finale. Some of the audience were experiencing tears of joy! My Pennyworth is a very Down to earth act capable of warming any crowd with unassuming magic. As if they have let you into their own living room session..."
